How to <a href=\"\/en\/docs\/004-create-event-with-schedule\/\">add a Recurring Event<\/a> and important information about <a href=\"\/en\/docs\/001-manage-bookings\/\">bookings<\/a> are explained in separate documents.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"preparation\">Preparation<\/h2>\n<p>Before creating a new event, you should complete the following steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Purchase &amp; install the plugin  <\/li>\n<li>Review and adjust the plugin settings under <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Cevento<\/span> &rarr; <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Settings<\/span>  <\/li>\n<li>Basic understanding of WordPress page editing  <\/li>\n<li>Do you want to create an event with booking management? Then it&rsquo;s best to first create a <a href=\"\/en\/docs\/002-forms\/\">form<\/a> and read the key information about <a href=\"\/en\/docs\/001-manage-bookings\/\">bookings<\/a> before publishing the event.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"add-new-event\">Add new Event<\/h2>\n<p>You have two options to add a new single event:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the WordPress menu click <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Cevento<\/span> &rarr; <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Add new Event<\/span>  <\/li>\n<li>In the WordPress menu under <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Cevento<\/span> &rarr; <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">All Events<\/span> click the button <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Add new Event<\/span>  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_neues-event-hinzufuegen.jpg\" data-caption=\"Click the &ldquo;Add new Event&rdquo; button\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_neues-event-hinzufuegen.jpg\" alt=\"Click the &ldquo;Add new Event&rdquo; button\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>After using either option, you&rsquo;ll land in the event editor. On the left, you&rsquo;ll see an input field for the title and below it two to three tabs where you can set the event options. On the right, you&rsquo;ll see metaboxes from Cevento and those related to WordPress page properties.<\/p>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_uebersicht.jpg\" data-caption=\"Overview of the event editor\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_uebersicht.jpg\" alt=\"Overview of the event editor\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"cevento-docs__caption\">[1] Input field for the event title, [2] Event settings, [3] Metaboxes<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"enter-a-title\">Enter a title<\/h2>\n<p>Enter the desired title of your event into the input field <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Enter title here<\/span> [1] and click <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Save Draft<\/span> [2] in the Publish metabox.  <\/p>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_titel-eingeben.jpg\" data-caption=\"Title entry process\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_titel-eingeben.jpg\" alt=\"Title entry process\"><\/a><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"set-event-settings\">Set event settings<\/h2>\n<p>The event settings are divided into two or three tabs located below the title. These tabs may contain submenus. The following sections explain these tabs and their submenus in order.<\/p>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_register-und-submenue.jpg\" data-caption=\"Highlighted tabs and submenu\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_register-und-submenue.jpg\" alt=\"Highlighted tabs and submenu\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"cevento-docs__caption\">[1] Tabs, [2] Submenu<\/span><\/p>\n<p><mark class=\"cevento-docs__tipp\">To preview your event detail page while editing, you can click the <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Preview<\/span> button in the Publish metabox on the right. This opens a new browser tab with a view of the event detail page that reflects the current state of your settings.<\/mark><\/p>\n<h3>Event Settings<\/h3>\n<p>This tab contains settings for Content, Date &amp; Time, and iCal.<\/p>\n<h4>Content<\/h4>\n<p>Settings related to the content of your event are located here.  <\/p>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_event-einstellungen_inhalt.jpg\" data-caption=\"Submenu &ldquo;Content&rdquo;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_event-einstellungen_inhalt.jpg\" alt=\"Submenu &ldquo;Content&rdquo;\"><\/a><\/div>\n<h5>Featured Event<\/h5>\n<p>Is your event special? Enable this switch to highlight the event in list views.<\/p>\n<h5>Description<\/h5>\n<p>The content entered in this text field will be displayed on the event detail page on your website.<\/p>\n<h4>Date &amp; Time<\/h4>\n<p>In the <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Date &amp; Time<\/span> tab, you can define the duration of your event.  <\/p>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_event-einstellungen_datum-uhrzeit.jpg\" data-caption=\"Submenu &ldquo;Date &amp; Time&rdquo;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_event-einstellungen_datum-uhrzeit.jpg\" alt=\"Submenu &ldquo;Date &amp; Time&rdquo;\"><\/a><\/div>\n<h5>Full Day<\/h5>\n<p>Enable this switch if your event lasts all day. When enabled, times will not be shown in the event output.<\/p>\n<h5>Start Date &amp; Time<\/h5>\n<p>Set the date and time when your event begins.<\/p>\n<h5>End Date &amp; Time<\/h5>\n<p>Set the date and time when your event ends.<\/p>\n<h4>iCal<\/h4>\n<p>In this tab, you can configure settings for the downloadable iCal file. iCal is a standardized file format for exchanging appointments across different applications. The file can be downloaded on the event detail page and opened in the user&rsquo;s application to easily import your event.  <\/p>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_event-einstellungen_ical.jpg\" data-caption=\"Submenu &ldquo;iCal&rdquo;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_event-einstellungen_ical.jpg\" alt=\"Submenu &ldquo;iCal&rdquo;\"><\/a><\/div>\n<h5>Description<\/h5>\n<p>The text entered here will appear in the iCal file.<\/p>\n<h5>Address Name<\/h5>\n<p>Enter the name of the event location here.<\/p>\n<h5>Address<\/h5>\n<p>Enter the address of the event location (format: Street, City, Postal Code, Country).<\/p>\n<h5>Address Coordinates<\/h5>\n<p>Enter the coordinates of the event location here (format: latitude, longitude). These coordinates can be used to display a map in the iCal file if supported by the calendar application.<\/p>\n<h3>Bookings<\/h3>\n<p>In this tab, you can enable bookings for your event and adjust related settings.  <\/p>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_buchungen.jpg\" data-caption=\"&ldquo;Bookings&rdquo; tab\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_buchungen.jpg\" alt=\"&ldquo;Bookings&rdquo; tab\"><\/a><\/div>\n<h4>Enable Bookings<\/h4>\n<p>Enable this switch if you want users to be able to book your event via your website with Cevento. Only after enabling will the additional settings in this tab appear.<\/p>\n<h4>External Booking Link<\/h4>\n<p>Here you can enter a link to a booking form on an external website. If a link is entered, users will be redirected there for booking, and the remaining settings in this tab will be ignored. This can be useful if you manage bookings via a third-party platform but still want to display your events on your own website.<\/p>\n<h4>Booking Form<\/h4>\n<p>In this dropdown, select the <a href=\"\/en\/docs\/002-forms\/\">form<\/a> through which users can book the event. The booking data will also be reflected in the <a href=\"\/en\/docs\/001-manage-bookings\/#booking-data\">booking overview<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Confirm Bookings<\/h4>\n<p>Here you can override the global setting for booking confirmation by admins.<\/p>\n<p>If you choose <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Yes<\/span>, admins must confirm the booking in the Cevento dashboard before users receive the Booking Confirmation email and the spot is reserved.<\/p>\n<p>If you choose <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">No<\/span>, users receive an immediate confirmation email and the spot is reserved.<\/p>\n<h4>Max. Spots<\/h4>\n<p>The number entered here defines the maximum booking capacity (i.e. number of spots or participants) for this event. You can also leave it empty if the event should allow unlimited participants.<\/p>\n<h4>Available From<\/h4>\n<p>Booking will only be available starting from the date selected here. If left empty, the default applies: booking is available 1 year before the event.<\/p>\n<h4>Available Until<\/h4>\n<p>Select the date until which booking should be possible. If left empty, the default applies: booking is available until the end of the event.<\/p>\n<h3>E-Mail Templates<\/h3>\n<p>This tab only appears once certain conditions are met. Here you can override the emails sent by Cevento specifically for this single event. If left empty, the emails from the <a href=\"\/en\/docs\/003-settings\/#e-mails\">global settings<\/a> are sent. More details about <a href=\"\/en\/docs\/004-emails\/\">emails and E-Mail Templates<\/a> are available in this documentation.  <\/p>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_e-mail-vorlagen.jpg\" data-caption=\"&ldquo;E-Mail Templates&rdquo; tab\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_e-mail-vorlagen.jpg\" alt=\"&ldquo;E-Mail Templates&rdquo; tab\"><\/a><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"add-a-featured-image\">Add a Featured Image<\/h2>\n<p>On the right, in the <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Featured Image<\/span> metabox, you can choose an image from your WordPress media library. This image will be displayed on the event detail page. If you don&rsquo;t select an image, no image will be displayed on the event detail page.  <\/p>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_bild-hinzufuegen.gif\" data-caption=\"Process of adding an image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_bild-hinzufuegen.gif\" alt=\"Process of adding an image\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p><mark class=\"cevento-docs__notice\">If you have enabled the switch <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Event Thumbnails<\/span> under <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Cevento<\/span> &rarr; <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Settings<\/span> &rarr; <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Display<\/span> &rarr; <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">General<\/span>, this image will also be used as a preview in your event views. If the switch is enabled but no image is set, a placeholder image will be shown in your event views.<mark><\/mark><\/mark><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"assign-a-category\">Assign a category<\/h2>\n<p>Events can be categorized. Each category has its own archive view. To assign a category to an event, check the box next to the desired category in the <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Categories<\/span> metabox or create a new one by clicking <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Add New Category<\/span>.  <\/p>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_kategorie-hinzufuegen.jpg\" data-caption=\"&ldquo;Add New Category&rdquo; button\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_kategorie-hinzufuegen.jpg\" alt=\"&ldquo;Add New Category&rdquo; button\"><\/a><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"save-the-event\">Save the Event<\/h2>\n<p>When you&rsquo;ve finished setting up your event, you have two options to save it. Both are located in the <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Publish<\/span> metabox on the right:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Save Draft<\/span> to save your event. It will not be visible on the website and remains visible only to you as a draft.  <\/li>\n<li>Click <span class=\"cevento-docs__term\">Publish<\/span> to save your event and make it publicly visible on your website.  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div uk-lightbox><a href=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_event-speichern.jpg\" data-caption=\"&ldquo;Save Draft&rdquo; and &ldquo;Publish&rdquo; buttons\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/cevento-docs\/en\/002-002-event-erstellen_event-speichern.jpg\" alt=\"&ldquo;Save Draft&rdquo; and &ldquo;Publish&rdquo; buttons\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>If you haven&rsquo;t correctly filled out all required fields, validation errors may appear after saving. For more information on <a href=\"\/en\/docs\/006-validation-errors\/\">validation errors<\/a>, see this documentation.<\/p>\n<p><mark class=\"cevento-docs__notice\">Before publishing an event with bookings, review the booking documentation and check whether the form is complete.
